Travel to Canary islands
Day 4 La Palma (182 Km.)
(in 29 Km.) Tijarafe: Before reaching this town is the Mirador del Time, on the edge of the ravine of Las Angustias, which offers a spectacular view across the valley Aridane and at the bottom of the cauldron. In the town stands the Church of Our Lady of Candelaria XVI century. It has a seventeenth-century altarpiece, with carvings of the apostles and paintings depicting the mysteries of the Rosary. Also highlights the sixteenth century Flemish carving of polychrome wood of Our Lady of Candelaria.

(in 35 Km.) El roque de los muchachos: We reached the highest point of Caldera de Taburiente National Park, place from which also sighted the island of Tenerife and where is located one of the observatories of Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias. With a diameter of about 8 kilometers, La Caldera is a horseshoe open to the southwest, where it communicates with the sea through the huge cliff of Las Angustias. At the beginning of the ravine, in Dos Aguas, the bottom of the park is at 400 m. altitude, while the walls of the basin are around the 2,200 meters, reaching in the Roque de los Muchachos (2,426 m) the highest point.

(in 52 Km.) Los Sauces: The cultural richness of San Andrés y Sauces is expressed by its architecture, with palaces and manor houses of the Renaissance. Highlight the Churches of Our Lady of Montserrat and St. Andrew the Apostle. Above the neighborhood of Las Lomadas are hidden the resurgences of Marcos and Cordero, located in an almost circular cauldron, reaching along a path parallel to the canal through narrow, damp, dark tunnels, first to the resurgence of Marcos and a little higher them of Cordero.

(in 3 Km.) San Andrés: The heart of San Andrés is located on a little cliff between banana and palm trees. It remains, marked in its narrow steep streets, the urban settlement of the sixteenth century with manor houses separated from the humble dwellings of the servants, and in 1507 already held the title of Villa, arriving later to have two public notaries, which only occurred in the capital of the island. Between palm trees stands the Church of San Andres. In the cobbled streets there isn't bustling shopping there and at the bottom of the Barranco del Agua, on the edge of the ocean, remains the lime kiln.

(in 4 Km.) Forest of Los Tilos: Just outside the town of San Andrés y Sauces is located the World Biosphere Reserve "El Canal y Los Tilos" (extended in 2002 to all the island as Biosphere Reserve of La Palma). Received the consideration of the UNESCO in June 1983, affecting 511 hectares, in particular the Forest of Los Tilos, located in the Barranco del Agua, where it is one of the best manifestations of Macaronesian laurel forests of Canary islands. In November 1997, UNESCO adopted its expansion to 13,931 hectares. Includes a wide range of landscapes and ecosystems.
