KUNGSHOLMEN

Several bridges communicate Norrmalm with this part of the town. Highlights in this area the building of the City Hall, Stadshuset, built with red brick and finished in 1923. It is an unique example of modern Swedish architecture. Inside it holds dinner for Nobel Prizes, specifically in the Blue Hall. From its tower of more than one hundred meters the views are stupendous. It dominates a big part of Stockholm and the Ulriksdal Palace, located in a beautiful setting near the sea and that has a wonderful park. The area is surrounded by beautiful gardens.

You must be Be closer to the pier of Klara Mälarstrand to take a boat heading for the castle of the Queen´s Islet, Drottningholms Slott, from the seventeenth century and current residence Kings of Sweden. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and situated on the island of Mälaren. The interior is wonderful, where the Chinese Pavilion and the Palace Theater with his Opera are some of the attractions. In this area is the Drottningholms Palace Theatre, which boasts of being the only theater in the seventeenth century fully preserved (inscribed in 1991 in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites).

DJURGÅRDEN

This is the area of leisure and that is because you will find here numerous entertainment places. But it also is fraught with culture as evidenced by major museums like the Vasa Museum, a ship museum, the pride of the Swedish fleet. This warship sank in 1628 during his first voyage. The boat was rescued from the sea in the sixties to be restored and housed in the museum. Not far away you can visit the Nordic Museum, which shows how the Swedes have lived and worked for the last 500 years. But if you prefer animals it is better to get closer to the Museum of Biology. In the vicinity is also the World´s oldest Open Air Museum, Skansen, Sweden´s old buildings, the zoo and the aquarium.

To the south of the island is located the house which was home of Painting Prince Eugene, which now has become a Nordic Art Museum. After his death in 1947 the mansion was bequeathed to the Swedish people. The house is surrounded by beautiful gardens.

In the share of Norra Djurgården, crossing the Bridge of Djurgården, is Kaknästornet, the highest building in Scandinavia with 155 meters. It is a broadcasting tower where you can find also a restaurant.
