Travel to Norway
Day 5 Stavanger - Preikestolen - Røldal (150 Km.)
(in 30 Km.) Prekiestolen: From Stavanger, we do the trip to Prekiestolen (Pulpit). Go by boat to the base of the mountain (Tau) via the ferry Lauvvik-Oanes and cost about 15 NOK per person and 20 NOK per car (20 times per day). Buses depart from Tau and in about 20 minutes take you to the beginning of the path, Preikestolhytta. It requires mountain boots.
Perform a journey to the top is a unique experience. This follows a well-marked path through mountain trails and glacial lakes. The tour, starting from the parking where the toristic buses parked shall be at least 4 hours, if you are a good hiker, which includes more or less two hours to climb (334 meters of elevation difference and 3.8 km long), half-hour stay in the top and one hour and half to go down.
In any case, there is very steep sections. The rock itself is a projection that faces the Lyse Fjord (Fjord of Light) with a cliff of 604 meters. The plateau in the top is about 25 x 25 meters and, of course, there is no railing!!!
(in 120 Km.) From Tau we are going to sleep at Sauda or Røldal area, by the Fjord Road (Route 13). We must take a ferry between Hjelmeland and Nesvik.
