Day 20 Puerto Natales - P.N. Torres del Paine - Puerto Natales (341 Km.)

Chile

(in 22 Km.) Mylodon´s Cave: Located 22 kilometers north of Puerto Natales, this Natural Monument consists of three caverns and rocky conglomerate called "Devil's Chair (Silla del Diablo)". The greater of these caves is 150 meters above sea level and its dimensions are: 30 meters high, 80 meters wide and 200 meters deep. The scientific interest is given by the discovery, in 1896, of skin, bones and other remains of an extinct animal, the Milodón (Mylodon darwini), a large herbivore that died, probably in the late Pleistocene.

(in 95 Km.)

We enter the park through the lagoon of black-necked swans (laguna de los Cisnes de cuello negro), which owes its name to the fact that she can see these swans. A little later flies over us above the road and a few meters away a condor. We got to a viewpoint where we see the lake Nordenskjöld with Paine hill behind him.

(in 25 Km.) Lake Pehoe: About 12 km after the viewpoint we reached the lake Pehoe. We turned around 500 meters to go to Salto Grande. We find it hard to walk up to this point due to the force of the wind. Once at the lake we can see the Hostería Pehoe, located on a small island in the lake. From here you can perform a typical photo of the park, the lake and the Horns of Paine behind him.

(in 31 Km.) Then, passing in front of the hotel Explora, go towards the administrative headquarters of the park near lake Toro, and from there to Lake Grey. The Lake Grey gives us a special show with the unusual shapes of icebergs reaching the shore of the lake beach product of detachments of Grey Glacier (one of the languages ??of the Southern Ice Field) and the typical Patagonian winds.

This park has great beauties and paths for walking, running through various landscapes from plains, dense Magellanic forests and stunning lagoons with icebergs and glaciers, all surrounded by huge rocky masses that characterize the shape of the Horns of Paine.
