Day 9 Temuco - Caburgua - Villarrica (186 Km.)

(in 86 Km.) Villarrica: Situated on the southwestern shore of the lake Villarrica, and overlooking the active volcano of the same name. The wooden houses and the names of many German families reflect the roots of the area of Villarrica that from 1850 received a large influx of European immigration.

(in 50 Km.) Caburgua lake: It is a volcanic lake surrounded by green mountains. In the summer with a large influx of visitors who fill the playa Negra (Black beach) and playa Blanca (White Beach).

(in 10 Km.) Ojos del Caburgua: Coming back to Pucon we find the Eyes of the Caburgua (Ojos del Caburgua), which are on private land, where there is a set of wells fed by groundwater of the nearby Caburgua and the Carileufu and Carhuello falls.

(in 15 Km.) Pucón: Is a leading international resort on the shores of Lake Villarrica. Born as a small fortress in 1883. The mission was to protect the area and its integration into the national territory. From the late nineteenth century the area attracted foreign settlers, first of all Germans. The main objective was to trade in timber, livestock and leather. The tourism boom began in 1934 with the opening of the Grand Hotel. A short walk leads to La Poza, a small harbour with boats.

(in 25 Km.) Villarrica: We gone from Pucon to Villarrica by the road along the lake, flanked by luxurious homes and campsites. Along the road there are many viewpoints of the lake and the volcano.
